Town Council rejects Option A again
1/3/10Penzance Town Council has again voted on the harbour issue and again rejected Cornwall Council's Option A plan to damage the historic South Pier and build on Battery Rocks beach.
The vote went 9:3 against Option A, with Councillors Rendle, Nebesnuick and Lovegrove voting in favour of Option A.
This is another important illustration of the strength of feeling in Penzance on this issue and sends a clear message to Cornwall Council and those who would try to push the scheme forward against the wishes of local people.
Mr Waters, the Chairman of the Penzance Chamber of Commerce has demanded the resignation of those that voted against Option A. The Friends of Penzance Harbour would like to congratulate them on their courage and for sticking out for what is best for Penzance.
Mr Waters polled just 11% of the vote when he stood in last year's Cornwall Council elections, and more recently failed in his attempt to be co-opted onto the Town Council.
